新年快乐

Happy Chinese New Year! As promised, here is a post on our festivities of the day!

We decorated the kitchen and gave the kids their "red envelopes" that mommy made.

They opened them up and got their money!

And they put the money in their piggy banks.

Then we made "Chinese Fans" and played with them with daddy while he was home for lunch!

(Technically, our lanterns and fans probably should have been red since that is the lucky color, but I was out of red paper after making the red envelopes.)

Then we made our "dragons"!

Then we went out and had our own little "dragon parade" on the trampoline!

P.S. I don't know if orchids are typically used as decor. in China, but they look Asian to me, and I'm secretly an orchid addict! If they weren't so expensive I'd have them in every room in my house!

Aren't they beautiful!? I LOVE my orchids!

We were going to make some Chinese food for dinner too, but after all those festivities, Amy caught the lazy bug (I'm sure none of you have ever had that problem before)! So since we have left over pizza from Kole's birthday last night, we decided to just have that for dinner.

Those Silly Gales!

Sep 20 Ammon just informed me he wants to "poop on the grass". Faaaannn-tastic.
Sep 17 What NOT to say to your wife: Roger Gale came home from work yesterday and said, "Look what I got." And held up a cute AF shirt that looked my size. Me: "Is that for me?" Roger: "It's a small." Me: "Umm... Ok? Are you saying I don't fit in a small?" Roger: "Don't you normally wear a bigger size? I was thinking this would fit Abby." Oh Roger, you silly, silly, man.
Sep 17 Ammon: "I pooped in my clothes." He failed to mention he stuck his fingers in it then rubbed his head with his hands.
Sep 16 Here we are in the pick up line at Abby's school... With Ammon sitting in the back of the car on a potty seat... The things we mothers do...
Sep 16 Just walked into the kitchen to find Ammon had climbed onto the counter aaaannnnd was peeing all over the counter top. Clorox. For all of life's bleach-able moments.
Sep 16 Don't you hate when you lay the baby in the crib and turn around to see that a little gray ghost girl has appeared behind you? Or you are sleeping and open your eyes to see her standing silently by your bed?... Oh wait, no that's Abby.
Sep 15 So we were sitting in church and Emma was just quietly looking around at all the people. Suddenly I heard her gasp excitedly and she started just jabbering away. I looked to see who she was "talking" to and it was a picture of Christ hanging on the wall. She then would start looking around quietly and then repeat the same excited conversation again several times. I think she recognizes him.
Sep 14 Abby: "Ooh! I just saw a guy with really big arms! Right there! He's brown." I looked up to realize my 6 year old daughter is checking out a very muscular black guy. (And FYI in no way are we being racist here. Just describing the person.)
Sep 13 Roger's brother was visiting today and I overheard the kids saying something about him needing glasses cause he's blind and then Kole said, "If you're blind Jesus can heal you."
Sep 13 My 2 yr old has a death wish. Instead of sitting on the couch like a normal person to watch his show he goes upstairs and hangs off the side of the landing/balcony thing over the living room.
Sep 10 Abby: "Mom I wish you came to school with me. We would put you in the class with the third graders since you are the size of them."
Aug 26 Been working with Abby on reading for over a year now. She still can't even read the word "I". We were just practicing her reading and she's sounding out every word about 30 times. Abby: "C-a-n. c-a-n. c-a-n. Aladdin?" Me: (Beating my head against a wall).
Aug 26 For those who have seen 'Rise of the Guardians'... We are sitting at Abby's school waiting to pick her up and Kole says, "Mommy, what are you thinking about?" Me: "Nothing really. What are you thinking about?" Kole: "Centers." Me: "Centers? What kind of centers?" Kole: "Like Santa's center and Jack Frost's center." Me: "Ohhh... So what is your center?" Kole: "I don't know yet."
Aug 24 I just caught my daughter humming 'Under Pressure'.
Aug 20 I've been getting kind of concerned that in all the pretend games the kids play the mom is always dead... But in this last game the mom is a super hero. I was beginning to think they wanted to get rid of me or something!
Aug 15 I posted on Roger Gale's Facebook Me: "Hubba Hubba!! Ow!! Ow!!! Saxy man!!" He just clicked "like" on the post. Me: "really?? That's all you have to say to that??" Roger: "I don't wanna make Facebook blush. People don't like how much it changes as it is. If I were to comment the Facebook would no longer have its iconic blue color but a flirtatious red and world wide anarchy would follow."
Aug 15 I have to tell Ammon daily, "Don't eat the shoe."...
Aug 13 He kids are fighting bedtime and I told roger it was his turn cause I had just done it for 3 months. Roger: "but we are a team now." Me: "don't give me that bull! Go take care of the kids." Nice try Roger Gale.
Aug 12 As we pulled up to the motel today I went to back the car into a closer parking spot and Abby thought I was parking far away. She said, "Great! Now we have to walk all the way across the parking lot to get to our room!" My reply, "Excuse me?! Now YOU get to walk clear across the parking lot twice for being mouthy and rude!" And we did. I walked her across it twice cause I'm mean like that. But when I asked her if she was going to comment rudely on my parking again you better believe she doesn't plan on doing it again!
Aug 8 Well we made it to Denver about an hour ago. I'm exhausted. Don't even want to eat just sleep. We left before sunrise and when the sun came up Kole yelled, "Mom! The sun is up we have to get dressed now!!"
