Sweet Treat??

I like to treat my kids with some goodies now and then... But every time a time for treats comes around I think to myself, "Is it worth it?" I like the smile that comes to Kole's face when he gets so excited for it... But I know that it will be followed by a hour long screaming (at decibels the whole base can hear/pitches that makes everyone cringe) tantrum and eventually a time out to get him to stop throwing a tantrum.... Yes, a hide in the pantry and trash it, hide behind the garbage can and kick, climb the drawers onto the counters, climb the back of the couch and make mommy grab him before he ruins the blinds, screaming banshee, tantrum.

Not to mention the threat of cavities and how bad the sweets are for his health...
So, is it worth it? I think not.

Chance

I have been debating posting this, because I know the kind of reaction it will get from certain people. But I suppose we can't keep it a secret forever....

Roger saw an ad for some Anatolian Shepherd pups and he likes Roxy and he likes her breed characteristics and personality, so he wanted one.
So he got one for us for our anniversary.
Meet Chance.
The newest member of the Gale family. He is about 3 months old.
Roger is enjoying playing with his dogs!
Ok, I'll admit, we are all enjoying them.  And Chance and Roxy have quickly become good friends.

Anniversary!

I want to wish Roger a happy anniversary!
I can't believe it's been 5 years! It seems like we've been married forever (in a good way) but then again, it seems like time has flown by! I'm so happy to have Roger as my hubby and we have helped each other become better people.
To those who keep asking what we are doing for our 5th anniversary, we are doing the same thing we do every year! Nothing. Right now Roger is sleeping because he is going into work at midnight tonight and he has been working 12-14 hour shifts for the past 2 weeks and he will continue working them for at least another 2 weeks. I waited all day for him to tell me 'happy anniversary' (I was testing him to see if he remembered) and when I finally told him "happy anniversary" at about 4pm his reply was something like, "Oh yeah, happy anniversary." Oh well, maybe we'll eventually celebrate on our 25th or something like that. At least he is home for this one, which is more than we can say for some past anniversaries. ;)
Love you, Roger! Can't wait to see what the next year (and so on) have in store!

Smiles

Ammon is so CHEESY! (Just ignore the pile of toys in the background.)

Life is short....

Life is short... Eat dessert first!
We did just that tonight.
Winner of the 'lazy mommy of the day award' goes to.... Me!
First, the kids and I made rice crispy treats.
Look at that crazed sugar craving look in Abby's face!

Then we ate them... Before dinner...
They were good.

THEN we had dinner. What did we have for dinner? Sheer mama laziness, my friend...
This is what I called "Cereal surprise".
"Surprise" for the surprise hidden layer of berries at the bottom.
Amazingly enough the kids loved it and Abby said, "MMM! This is so yummy!" and Kole said, "Yeah! Thanks for dinner mommy!!"
and there was even another surprise when...
The milk turned blue!
So, yeah, not the greatest dinner ever, but it was one of those days that something had to give...
So life is short, eat dessert first.... So I won't have to feel like such a bad mom...
;D

Balloons

Salina has a balloon festival every year, and we got to be there for it this year and here are the pictures!
The kids were standing next to the balloon of a friend of our family.
At night they do a balloon glow. It's very fun! For a balloon glow they stay on the ground and just light up the balloons with the burners.
(I'm sorry, my computer won't turn the pictures for some reason so they are sideways)
Cool huh? All while enjoying a live concert from Dyer Highway and Charley Jenkins!
Not bad for a small town huh?

They also fly the balloons in the mornings.
I know the secret of how to get a free ride on one of these babies. But I'm not telling you! That's my secret! :)

The 4th of July: Part 2

On the 4th we went to the Middle School's field where they have booths set up with games for kids and they have the greased poles that the guys shimmy up to get money. This is a picture of Abby at the face painting booth (which, by the way, we were related to 4 of the girls running it... And we were related to the girls running the next booth we went to! I guess that isn't too hard though when you are related to half the town... Everyone there is related!)

Later we went to the parade.
Where Abby enjoyed waving to all the rodeo queens and begged for more candy.
We spent the whole day playing.

Another day (I don't remember the date)...
We went to Roger's parent's house where Abby begged to ride the 4-wheeler.
Unfortunately they didn't have a kids helmet and my protective mother side is a bit stronger than my hick side, so I wouldn't let her ride it without a helmet, although I did allow her to drive across the lawn to park it, but I made them go reeeally slow.

Then we went fishin'.

While there we also celebrated Roger's mom's birthday and Amy's dad's birthday.
For grandpa's birthday Abby had a whole party planned! She even helped grandma bake a cake...
His candle's were so bright that moths were drawn to it!
Well actually, those are butterflies. Abby insisted his cake be a butterfly cake!

Even Ammon enjoyed the party!

July 4th... Part 1

This is the first part of
'The Gale's 4th of July Festivities'
(Well, actually this is the pre-4th of July)
First we...
Saw the new 'Cars 2' movie and met Mater!
(In the middle of a hail storm! What in the??)

Then we made a trip to St. George and enjoyed their temps in the 110's.... Much more our style....
While visiting our family there we did....
Sparklers! Which Kole.....
Got burned with by grabbing the hot stick just after the sparks had gone out, so Mommy rushed him right over to the bucket of water and plunged his hand into it while his Aunt went and got an ice pack...
And we also....
Watched an exciting fireworks display put on by Grandpa, Uncle, and Daddy!
We then ended our time in Southern UT with...
A beautiful cousin's beautiful baptism.

We hope you have enjoyed 'July 4th- Part 1'... Please join us for the rest later.
